Peace to the Faithful
Our greatest need is to know God better.
Pause.
Our greatest need is to know God better.
Our greatest need is not
During my time with God, I read His word through the lens of decades of turmoil due to domestic abuse. In the Psalms, I see Him as Rescuer, Redeemer, and Giver of good things.
I also see purpose in my suffering: I see how He drew me to Himself and into greater knowledge of Him as a result of honesty about my need. There were many things God accomplished as a result of my turbulent past:
Even though what happened to me wasn't my fault, God knew my own "ways" had to change permanently for the better:
"I listen carefully to what God the LORD is saying, for He speaks peace to His faithful people. But let them not return to their foolish ways. Surely His salvation is near to those who fear Him, so our land will be filled with His glory." ~ Psalm 85:8-9
Did you see it? God gives peace to His faithful people, but warns them to NOT go back to their previous ways.
Of all the things I love about my new life, PEACE is one of the most valuable features. As God aligns my heart with His and I learn His ways, He smooths out the path in front of me. He straightens out my false beliefs about me, Him, and others; He helps me change my behaviors to reflect truth and love; He assures me that He has everything under control.
I want others to enjoy this peace, too. Addressing our suffering in a healthy way will ultimately include getting to know God better. Only He is the solution to our difficulties because His presence represents His protection and peace.
For freedom, Christ has set us free. Stand firm then and don't submit again to a yoke of slavery.

- freedom
- authentic friendships
- discovering God's value of me
- knowledge of both good and evil
- understanding of myself
- revelation of errant beliefs I held
